Early Help Offer - The Believe Centre

What Is the DECS Believe Centre?

BELIEVE CENTRE MISSION STATEMENT

“We aim to develop and grow our pupils in self-confidence, belief and self -value. Thus giving a sense of direction, raising aspirations and having goals in all aspects of life”

“To Believe As We Believe In Them”

The Believe Centre is part of our school’s offer of early help and intervention within our behaviour and support framework. It’s not a quick fix solution but a strategy of foundation building which empowers our pupils with the skills, confidence and support mechanisms needed in school and their wider life.

More often than not, individuals have other complex needs or fundamental issues which impact significantly on their wellbeing and create barriers to their learning and progress .Throughout our Believe Centre intervention it may be that a specific area of need is identified, in such cases signposting to appropriate outside agencies or our SENCO’s input is initiated.

For other individuals, time in the Believe Centre gives a more 1 to 1 nurturing support mechanism to overcome and support with issues that are impacting emotionally and may be having a detrimental effect on attendance and behaviour, leading to a lack of academic progress.

Students are referred to the Believe Centre through an in depth process by our 3 Head of House’s and spend 6 weeks receiving this intervention programme. Alongside this we may deliver some literacy intervention if required.
